What responsibilities does the role have?
- You are the owner of repath's python software packages for automated processing of climate data as well as climate data computation & processing and push its development
- You collaborate closely with R&D and are responsible for implementing, testing, running and optimizing data-processing routines and ETL features for automated applications
- You are responsible for the backend infrastructure including large filestorage and Postgres Cloud storage and will administer the technical data and software infrastructure
- You have the possibility to engage in AI and data analytics for climate sciences
- You are constantly looking for improvement and growth potential of repath and of yourself
- You support in all the various tasks a start-up must deal with and become an entrepreneur yourself
What are we looking for?
- You are a Python software developer with 5+ years work experience
- You studied computer science, physics, meteorology, or related disciplines; a scientific background in climate/earth sciences is a plus but not a must
- You have proven experience in software development with data-driven operations
- You have experience in working with cloud database systems and its performance optimization
- You have profound experience in software engineering (e.g. version control, deployment, data flows, packaging, debugging, optimization, testing, documentation)
- You are a Python expert and passionate about large data array handling (numpy, xarray, dask, pandas)
- You feel comfortable in agile software development environments (e.g. Jira/Confluence)
- You are a multitasker & problem solver with a strong analytic mind and a hands-on builder mentality
- You are driven about the ClimateTech Industry; specifically, about climate risks and adaptation to climate change and want to make a positive impact on our planet
- You are enthusiastic to be part of building up a purpose driven new work organization
- You are self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, structured, a fast learner
